I already step up to leadership roles fairly regularly at this point, and have been recognized for it (thank you!). It's a role I really enjoy as much as playing the game as a grunt, so whatever else I can get involved in in that regard, consider this an application for that. Plus, gotta make it official, you know?
1. What kind of experience do you have leading?
I have already stepped up and taken platoon lead many nights during the week. While I have a fair amount of leadership experience outside of sitting at a keyboard, in this context I believe my already proven ability to effectively lead a platoon is most relevant here.
2. Why do you want to lead?
Platoon leading allows me to play Planetside 2 in a very different way than the shooter most people experience. It adds another element to gameplay that I otherwise wouldn't directly be able to control- the strategy aspect. While anyone in an organized unit can play with tactics, playing with strategy is quite different. It's immensely satisfying to see a plan unfold and be successful.
3. How do you handle stress and heated situations?
I pride myself on having a long fuse with a slow burn. I rarely get frustrated or stressed, and when I platoon lead, I can do so with professionalism regardless of the situation (assuming professionalism was my aim to begin with )
4. Are you able to diffuse situations before they escalate into bigger problems?
I consider myself to be very good at brokering compromises and solutions, an ability I use in my real-life leadership roles.
5. How is your experience with dealing with inter-outfit conflicts?
I can't honestly say I've experienced what I would consider "inter-outfit conflict", assuming we're referring to friendlies, or non-combat sort of conflicts. The worst I've seen is trash talk, nothing sustained, and as platoon lead I would keep it that way, by firmly insisting that my troops ignore the drama. I do honestly believe we're better than that.
6. How would you rate your strategic knowledge of Planet Side 2?
My strategic knowledge has grown immensely since I started platoon leading. I find I use very different strategies than most of our leaders. I prefer to move quickly through empty territories and pick a fight with the enemy wherever I decide it's convenient for us, rather than going to the biolabs or tech plants. I pride myself on insurgent and troll tactics.
7. How would you describe your leadership ability out of 10
7 out of 10, effective, but with room for improvement.
8. What are your biggest contributions you can bring as a leader to TXR?
My relaxed leadership style and love of fun. I try to get creative when I lead, with strategies and fun ops and even ops run out of another faction. People always respond really well when there's a concrete plan and a tangible goal that we can "win", so that's how I lead. Whatever other leaders do that I view as effective, I try to incorporate.
9. How do you feel TXR can benefit from you being in a leadership position?
I think questions 8 and 9 are really very similar.
10. Do you understand the responsibilities that come with TXR leadership?
I do. I'll make y'all proud.
