So, reason being, I preordered the pretty, new X-55 Rhino HOTAS from Saitek who is owned by MadCatz.... I preordered in March with the expectation that a date would be given around the beginning of April. Still nothing. Tried to contact customer service, in which it's only Tech Support..... The answer I ended up getting was what I got off of the website, "Shipping April 2014". So when I asked, "So we get a 30 day window of when to expect our items?" The reply was yes.... I WANT MY RHINO!!! Just want to see what you guys think regarding release dates.

I don't expect anything more than what they promise, but if a company gives me a date at the time of my purchase, that date (or date range) is part of what I've bought, and I expect them to deliver on what they said. Companies that give a range of dates or a month or whatever don't bother me as long as they deliver on what they state.
I refuse to involve myself or my money with anything that doesn't have a release date. A couple bad games have permanently soured my disposition to pre-orders, and while there's some I may regret not purchasing after the fact, I can still rest easy knowing I made the best decision I could with the information available to me.

Pre-orders are tricky. I wait on pre-ordering until they confirm an end date to pre-ordering. I also have been permanently soured on hardware that gave a general date but was pushed back for half a year.

Pre-ordering is pretty much a gamble from the get go, you're hoping that whatever you just paid full price for is gonna be good from the start. I'll use Witcher 3 as an example, Amazon has it up for pre-order with the release of Dec 31 2014. Knowing that and having played the past 2 games, I have it pre-ordered because i know its gonna be the equivalent to a digital blowjob for my eyes and the story is (most likely) gonna be amazing.
Now CDprojekt have already pushed it back once for more tweaking. Good, I'm okay with that since they've come out and told everyone but eventually it will come out and until then I won't care because I know I'll get mine.
I checked the 3rd option because I've yet to pre-order a bad game or item so I'm not burned by the idea of it. So they can take their sweet time while I patiently wait for my copy. (this is coming from someone that waited 9 years for SC2 so ehh a few months is no big deal)

Good news is, they don't have my money yet. It won't get taken out until it ships. I usually don't preorder unless it's something completely bad ass and don't want to wait for it to be in stores or whatever. I've only really preordered 2 other things: Mass Effect 3 and Space Marine. I don't mind waiting, it just bugs me that they've built up all this hype and are not talking to their customers. Even if they said the 15th, give or take a week, I'd be happy. I know Amazon says it ships May 1, but that's not an April ship date like the Saitek site says. I think for future purchases from MadCatz/Saitek, I'll just run down to Fry's or order from Newegg or something.
