So I've talked to a couple people about playing the Battle Royale mod, and I think it's a good idea. In essence, up to 40 people compete in a Battle Royale/Hunger Games style arena. All players spawn in one area without weapons, and a large number of backpacks that may contain weapons/supplies are set in the middle of the players(Normally 30-40 meters away, while all players are in a circle surrounding it(Think the Cornucopia from Hunger Games)). All rounds are 90 minutes, only 1 player can win, complete free-for-all. There are weapons and supplies scattered all over the island. The play area slowly shrinks, with zombies continually spawning on players who go outside of the area. Random artillery strikes (sporadically) occur to force players to keep moving. Hunger and thirst occur at an accelerated rate as of the last patch, so that playing to win simply by outlasting other players via not starving is a real option. So, we should play it. I figure we get a couple guys together and play a few games later this week to give it a go. It'll require ARMA 2: Combined Ops, and DayZ Commander to acquire the mod/server listings. The mod itself us under 2 GB, so even those of us using dialup should be able to get it. dayzbattleroyale.com/www.dayzcommander.com/

Bubbles and I played a round with some guys who were streaming last night and it was fantastic. Take all the jumpy terror and anarchy of a DayZ game or a good horror game even, get rid of all the fluff, and you've got this. I generally don't like watching other people play games, but watching the stream after was pretty awesome too. Some of the kills are just too grueling.
