Alright, so we had a good conversation on here regarding gatling guns in space and there's a good one going on in the General Forum on RSI. So to settle some of the conversation when the commercial was released, it is a solid shot gatling gun. Says so in the brochure. That answers that. As for cooling, I searched and came up short on an answer for that, as of now. I do remember a mention of cooling systems, so I know they're there. I just want the answer for mine and your own benefit.
Now, when we look at the brochure, the F7C-M Super Hornet does not come with the Gallenson Tactical 220 Gatling Gun, but they are there in the hangar for those that have the F7C-M and they're mounted on the turret. They look ridiculous there, so people have been moving them to the wings and that has sparked a conversation about size. The OP of the post I directed to you to has valid point about the sizing of the barrels. Maybe it's just a scaling issue and this weapon hasn't been totally revisited by the Dev team to get size right. He points out that the barrels are ridiculously huge. Through much trolling of the poster I managed to find an excellent example of the problem with the ammo being so large. The size of the barrels isn't so much the issue so as much as the storage of ammo that large in a rapid firing gun. For that, I push you to the top of page 6 of that thread (only post on that page at the time of writing). Alture White gives a good side-by-side comparison of the A-10 and the Hornet that shows how much room is needed in the A-10 for its ammo, thus showing us the space required in the Hornet for ammo storage.
I only read through 2 pages of this thread before I jumped to the end and saw that post. There are many other good posts in there and just as many "you're an idiot" and "screw your opinion mine is right" posts as well. Also, I can't speak for the size of the guns myself as I have the "base model" F7C that is equipped as listed in the brochure (no gatlings but it does have the repeaters).
