The TXR Road Runners
Summary
1. We are a mobilized force that operates in skirmish, engagement, and distraction tactics.
2. We use terrain and speed to outmaneuver or flank enemy forces. We engage to support, or distract enemy focus away from our armor (Prowler Pack), our air (Skywatch), or our infantry (Ground Pounders) divisions. Our secondary tactics include head-on engagement, mobilization to a secondary base to begin securing operations, etc. We also continue to foil that stupid coyote (your choice of NC or VS).
Details
We exist primarily in a engage and retreat role. Harassers are lighty-armored, quick vehicles. Engage and retreat. Prolong survivability. We also provide backup or can operate with our other divisions. The key to our division is MOBILITY. We can maneuver into position quickly, engage our targets, and disengage just as quickly. We provide external support to infantry engaging a structure or facility, and ensure the external perimeter stays clear of external infantry pushes while our Ground Pounders work the internals. We harass and distract armor forces engaged by our Prowler Pack by offering tempting softer targets, while in reality allowing us to confuse and distract the enemy's targeting and focus. We can outflank and engage targets from an unexpected vector... you start to get the picture.
Our priority is to protect our vehicles as resources. Engage, then fallback and regroup to quickly push forward again is our mantra.
If you run a Harasser occasionally or often you are NOT REQUIRED to be a part of this group. We do not hold the keys to TXR harasser exclusivity. We do however operate as the formal Harasser Road Runner group during Friday Night Ops. If you want to run during OPS, check out the trainign and scheduling threads in this subform for details.
We can offer kills, explosions, action and shenanigans in a more organized methodology, and importantly; we watch each others' backs. Feel free to try running with us on non-OPS nights or during training to see "how we roll".
The Division and Our Gear
1. Vehicle requirements
General Harasser recommended minimum specifications:
A. Harasser Acquisition timer level 6 (341 certs)
B. Gate shield diffuser level 1 (100 certs)
C. NS NFI-2000 Turbo level 3 (750 certs) - recommend MAX level ASAP
D. Composite Armor level 4 (350) - recommend MAX level ASAP
E. Scrapper Combat Chassis level 3 (300) - recommend MAX level ASAP
Rationale: MOBILITY. While both Racer and Surger chassis offer perks, the increased reverse speed and quick turning of the Scrapper chassis increase survivability odds, as does the lower TURBO recharge which allows us to break away from combat to retreat with a higher survival rate. We may be called upon to mobilize troops into a secure enemy facility, and the basic gate diffuser allows us to shuttle troops into (or out of) otherwise closed areas.
2. Recommended Weapons:
A. Vulcan
The all-arounder. Destroy armor, destroy mounted guns, destroy infantry. That is the priority of your targets when equipped with a Vulcan, as that is the same order of threat those targets against you. A good team of driver and gunner Vulcan-equipped Harasser can take down a lone 1/1 or 1/2 tanker. A 2/2 AV tank? Run... and bring backup (FracMAX, another Harasser). Good against few infantry targets, the lack of spash damage means that lots of infantry can outclass and destroy a single Vulcan Harasser. Thermal optics recommended, as the recent changes to dusk / dawn and night light levels make picking out infantry that much harder without it. Concentrate on lowering your reload speed with certs once you have the rest of your buggy max'ed out.
TL;DR: Vulcan = shoots everything. Cert into thermals and then reload speed. My personal favorite.
B. Halberd
Tank buster. Sunderer shredder. Single-hit-infantry-killer. A precise instrument that requires precise skill, the Halberd Harasser has a powerful place on the battlefield. It's quickly outclassed by multiple targets, especially AV armor or infantry. Best when accompanied by a single Vulcan Harasser, or with other Vulcan and Marauder equipped Harassers.
C. Marauder
Infantry pressure cooker. Use the Marauder's splash damage on multiple infantry targets surrounding an enemy Sunderer, or entrenched infantry position. No match for AV armor.
3. Basic Operational Parameters:
A. Each Harasser is broken down into crews. When running together (either during casual gaming or organized OPS) the Harassers have a squad leader: this person is responsible for making general calls for the squad (the three Harassers) within the directions of the Road Runner leadership team (engage, retreat, etc.), while staying within the overall battle engagement parameters set by the platoon leaders.
B. Each crew driver should make every effort to remain within visual sight of each other's Harassers while in proximity to enemy engagement
C. The pulling of vehicles in regards to resource requirements / vehicle timers / etc. are to be shared amongst each pair of Harasser operators: Thou shalt take turns pulling a harasser and driving / gunning if possible, or mutual agreement is made that "one always guns, one always runs".
D. A pre-determined fallback point at a friendly ammo tower is to be marked by the squad leader before any battle engagements or forward momentum. Be aware of your retreat path at all times.
E. Vehicles are to be set to "Squad / Platoon" only AT ALL TIMES. We do not need uninformed pubbies opening fire on enemy targets to give away our positions and light us up on the map. If the driver is killed during combat repairs, the gunner is responsible to assume command of the vehicle, and retreat to the predetermined fallback point.
F. MOBILITY and SURVIVABILITY are our mantras. Withdraw and repair. Fallback and regroup. Minimize our downtime, and maximize our harassment of the enemy.
G. TXR Leadership (especially the current platoon leader) is your God. Operate within the parameters set forth by them and follow direction. This may involve the destruction of your vehicle or it being left behind and disassembled.
H. If the order to abandon Harassers and proceed as ordered is given by the platoon or squad leader, remove all personal belongings from the vehicle, and set the vehicle to "UNLOCKED" if at a friendly facility so other faction members can utilize it if you are leaving them behind; announce in prox chat if you wish.
