Tonight is our night to run Indoctrination Thursday - I'm going to be on at my usual time (after 6:30pm PST);
If there is a Flight Leader who would like to get things rolling before then, please do so. This is Hereticus' deal, so help him out. This is a great opportunity to introduce some of the newer outfit members to the squadron and maybe pick up some more skilled gunners and pilots.
Easy thing to do is get some liberators up for people to gun in and start working in pairs. Break the group into the subchannels if necessary and use our proposed com system. If you don't want to get too into it, keep people busy until I get on and I'll take over.
Since we're running the op, we'll just roll our usual thursday night "practice" into this event and keep it going until we all get bored of flying.

Ugh, messy thanks to my technical difficulties. Thank you snoggy for taking over when needed.
We're going to have to rethink the way to do indoctination thursdays - I agree with hans1942 that air needs to operate in support of a ground push to be truly effective.
We'll work on it. As always, post any suggestions or comments.
I'm going to try to get my freaking TS working for tomorrow night, but I may not be on to lead.

Doing pure air ops is very difficult. Between acquisition timers and resources, it gets tricky.
Not to mention there are lots of people that just... want to play ground. Best way to do it would be to just keep the regular operations going... and just tack on a skywatch squad.
That way people aren't feeling forced to fly, can keep doing their ground thing... maybe they'll pull a mossie or gun for a libby for a bit but they aren't corraled into doing it. I noticed most of the time more than half of the group was on the ground anyways. At least we can continue to push objectives on the ground and, if it's a pubby platoon, get some more recruits in.
And trying to gather 24 someodd people into planes is just a headache. We only have so many liberators who can take 1 gunner each.. and the rest are mossies... and when they die they generally just go back on the ground because they still have 8 minutes on their timers.
Plus, with us doing the sort of.. tacked on support the groundies bit, we'll get a bit more practice other than the one day on friday... which we do need.
The air game probably has the most difficult learning curve of any of the arms, and no one's going to learn in 2-3 hours (Nor can you really explain it in 5 minutes)... you really have to put in a lot of time to figure it all out and learn the nuances that are the polar opposites of the groundies.
An amusing idea I had was to do what some of the other factions do.. get a sundy with a dozen bursters maxes and sit outside a warpgate... and just shoot down planes for funsies.

How about this suggestion: Next Indoctrination we do a combined one with Spec-Ops? - We can get around the map as easily and as fast as Spec-Ops can. - This is a good chance to learn how our squad and other squads compliment each other - Its always harder to run Spec-Ops with too many people in it. This might relieve that. - I think it could be a very deadly combo.

Great points guys, I agree completely.
Snoggy, I can't think of a better way to troll some people one night we want to have some fun. We'll keep this in mind.
Hans, that's a great idea. Next spec ops night we'll run an early "practice" and just work on coordinating with that.
