I just want to say again what a fantastic job you all did. Skywatch earned some serious praise from the other TxR divisions and leaders and that is all because of you guys.
We won a tough alert on Indar; Total Recoil was instrumental in holding the line and taking some tough ground against [HT]. Skywatch was every bit a part of that. The final save we pulled off on Seabed Listening Post was a thing of beauty; Vanu air had our bravo squad spawn camped. We took out the air, killed the Sundy and bravo was able to push out and re-secure.
As always I want to ask for any suggestions; it sounded to me like we were doing a solid job communicating and supporting each other, but my attention was diverted. Are there any suggestions anyone has? Are there things you'd like to see us practice more, or suggestions you'd like to see implemented?
Any critiques of my leadership, things that I can do better in the future to make things easier for you?
Use this thread to discuss ideas.
We've got a Sunday practice tomorrow at 8:00pm PST for anyone who can make it; Depending on what is going on we might head over to the TTA teamspeak and see about working with another air squadron for the evening as well. I'll see you guys then.

I don't usually post in other squad sub-forums but that shit was a thing of pure beauty. I know for a fact you guys helped out Spec Ops in some seriously sticky situations.
Keep it up and there may be some bacon in it for you guys.

The small amount of time I was apart of Skywatch operations this week was super fun. It has been a long time since we had a member count over four or five in the air and I look forward to hopefully keeping these numbers. A full squad of liberators and mossy pilots are a force to be reckoned with and it obviously showed. Changes (A long time nay-sayer of air) was thoroughly impressed about how EFFECTIVE air strikes were. This is due to not only our larger numbers this week but the fantastic leadership of Mag. We made our leadership true believers of our air superiority as well as other outfits who were rolling with us. Our name was mentioned in praise from the TTA as well. I just wanted to thank Mag and everyone for an awesome time flying. Look forward to friday again.

I think FNO showed me three things. 1. I was right about Skywatch being the most able at getting to Sunderers or attacking vehicles which is perfect for a defensive push. 2. I was surprised at how effective we were when defending Indar Excavation Tower. When we had 3 libs in the east, we pretty much focused their force to move and attack from the west. We pretty much created a no drive zone. 3. We still need more practice. I think we did really really well but imagine how much better we can be with practice.
Finally, Mags, we need to set up a Libby Loadout. Something that Skywatch should strive for especially if you are new in the air.

With the last update on lib's you really can't go wrong with a Dalton lib now-a-days. The damage to vehicles is nice and although it takes two hits to kill infantry it still makes it viable for killing them. The dalton lib is pretty much good for any situation at this point, but i preferred the Zepher before the last update. For the other techs i prefer Nanite auto repair, Racer 3, and Afterburner. It is just my personal preference but the afterburner paired with Racer 3 adds the ability to quickly go from a dead stop to max speed within 1-2 seconds and is a nice GTFO aircraft (Can go speeds equivalent to ESF's). Other load outs are nice in their own way and are subject to pilot preference. The reason i choose nanite is because once damage is taken you can quickly leave the hostile airspace and make a round about, most times by the time you circle around a large mountain you are back to full health and can make another pass (it also lowers your downtime of setting down and repairing). I prefer not to hover around in my lib, making sweeping passes instead, thus increasing my survival rate. The racer frame helps me to avoid taking too much flak or getting out of there if its too hot. It also helps to have a bad-ass gunner such as G1Caliver or Changes. The more you work with your gunner the more they understand your flying techniques and will get you more xp. Snoggy and G1Caliver work together all the time and are an amazing libby crew so having their input as well may help you with a build. Hope this helped somewhat

Yeah, I'd call for a focus on Daltons because of the role we're taking these days. Infantry suppression is nice to have, but not vital and the Daltons do alright in a pinch in that department.
Caustic and I had a real good time a few nights back sitting at high altitude (680-700m) with a zoomed dalton tagging armor that was advancing from Indar Bay to Cora med. They'd go hull down behind a hill to avoid TR armor and thus expose their unprotected side armor to us. Caustic was able to clean em up pretty handily and we took no fire.
During the FNO I deployed the libs in much the same role with good results; we kept the armor from Quartz from flanking around Indar Bay and forced them into the prowler pack or to go over the mountain towards Dahaka where we were able to slide over and wreck everything coming down that hill.
I'm also very happy to see multiple libs working more closely in concert - adding targets to the sky seems to be doing a good job of splitting ground fire and increasing our impact during attack runs.
I guess my suggestions for lib builds would be along the lines of:
Dalton - Zoom (2.5x is probably perfect), Reload, Ammo NAS 5 AB 1 Racer 3.
A good case might be made for Composite and fire suppression.
I still want to investigate the potential of shredders in a niche role, but I doubt they'll outshine a dalton.
Two more lib crew members that I got to fly with on friday night and that I found to be just awesome were Fataldmg (gunner) and Blackjohnny (pilot). Fortysixandtwo is also a good gunner.
Addressing practice:
It'll take a lot of time spent flying together, but I'd like to tighten up our formations just a bit and keep pairs of libs supporting each other. It is much easier said than done and things get really crazy, but I think we could get some positive benefits from mutually supporting gunships.

Well you can't have too much in one hex or you start smashing into each other.
I run my dalton max zoom 3.0, auto repair maxed, reload maxed and fire suppression.. that fire suppression really, really helps.. moreso than the afterburners...
Shredders are alright, but they should really be to compliment others... by themselves they aren't super super great.... but again, you need more pilots and gunners... think we should strive for 3-4 libby crews and the rest mossies, seems a decent balance.

Yeah, spacing does really start to be an issue. 2 per hex is about what I've noticed is effective without being a problem.
"pairs of libs supporting each other" means the two libs in the pair are supporting - putting 4 libs in the same area would certainly create more problems than it solves.
I've gotten a lot of good use out of the ABs, personally. I've never thought much of the fire suppression - usually by the time the lib is on fire I'm either at a point where I can set it down or we're about to die anyway. It always seemed very situational to me. However, I don't fly libs nearly as often so if you are running it, it is probably worth checking out.

Wouldn't mind seeing some of this, either, TBH.
