So I have been getting more and more frustrated at what they have done with the ESF vs any other unit. They have nerfed it to the point that I no longer see any great air battles. There are many good reasons why but how they nerfed it is incorrect.
Here is what I see as the problems with Air Balance:
Air v Air
- I see no problem with it. It is pretty balanced. The Air Hammer is not really that big of a deal once you learn how to handle reavers.
Air v Tanks (No AA Max)
- We are way too overpowered in these situations because skyguard frankly sucks. And nothing else is really that good in deterring air. Skyguards need to be buffed in terms of accuracy. We should fear skyguards.
Air v Turrets
- We are overpowered a bit but I believe they are now buffing turrets as they should be. We should fear turrets. If turrets are up that means there is a good defense going on.
Air v Infantry
- Here is where the big issue is.
- Infantry Perspective - Rocketpods should have a lot less splash damage. Rocketpods should be used against tanks and armor. Think of AV tank shells. Effective against armor but ineffective against infantry. ESFS should be fighting other air or other tanks but in no way should we get involved with other infantry. That is the job of the our liberators.
- Air Perspective - AA Maxes are overpowered. We need to nerf them not in terms of damage but in terms of accuracy. This will allow them to be great at hitting galaxies and liberators but meh at hitting ESFs.
In Summary, infantry should fear libbies and gals but not ESFs. ESFs should fear skyguards, turrets and other air but not infantry.
I really wish I could have the great air battles we used to have.
