Sadly I could not join you on Auraxis today as I've been spending time with my "baby" brother who is on leave before being deployed to the middle east. But please, do tell me your tales of grandeur! How was the first day on the officially released battlefield?

I was impressed at the uptime; servers apparently crashed a few hours ago, but as far as launches go, it was surprisingly stable.
Couple of issues getting folks in teamspeak, and to make matters worse in-game comms were sporadic at best. Apologies to outfit members we had to remove from squads due to the comm issues, but please take a minute to read the teamspeak thread here and get setup. It's a much better setup than in-game comms IMO, and much more reliable (in addition to not working, some folks were still having button bind issues with in-game comms that were present in beta).
Gameplay wise, fantastic. I thought it was going to be a mess without AMS buses or beacons, but we were surprisingly covered by folks who were hardcore and already had the certs within a couple of hours. Hell, I played 4pm-11pm and am already tickling Rank 10. Which reminds me; once you get to Rank 10 squad leaders, get those beacon certifications!
Battle for Split Peak Pass was great, and our push to one of the bio labs with the platoon split up with nearly each squad taking a cluster of buildings or objectives was a fantastic fight.
Awesome!
The game is worth every penny you either spend or don't spend on it.

As releases go,I was also impressed. Downloading the game client at 5pm mst went quick. I was done in about 40 minutes. No problems in character creation and server choice. I was expecting some login delays considering subscribers get first dibs, but was in immediately. Changing continents has a que timer, which lasted me worst less than a minute. Gameplay was fairly smooth, lag was there but not a killer. At one point I experienced the graphics bug where you see open sky and it gets choppy, but many others had it at the same time. This happened only once . Liking this version So far very much. Probably going to get a sub too.

Forgot to mention the single glitch I ran into: I hopped in a tank parked on an incline, pointing it's barrel into the sky, and we fell, backwards through the map.
AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaa........ my squad waypoint is a long way awSPLAT.

Hahaha Toast! I enjoyed reading your first day experience of official planetside 2 launch! For me it was actually getting a fox trot squad setup in teamspeak! By the way all the squads were doing an awesome job! My highlight of last night was defiantly having the opportunity to platoon lead a successful max crash against the 666 devil dogs. That event truly showed our coordination and bad ass timing! Well done TXR!

Best opening spawn ever.
Game tries to give me the intro video, hit escape to skip, immediately get spawned into a drop pod, all I can see is snow, and some vanu aircraft above Elli Amp Station.
As I get close to the ground I see a lib hovering over the air pad.
>For my cause I sacrifice myself, and my enemy shall pay with his life
Getting kills before my boots even touch the ground, TXR for life.

Fun stuff:
- Running over enemy Flashes in the middle of nowhere in my bus. I'm up to at least 10 now including beta. They try to dodge me, but end up with a Sundy logo embedded in their forehead.
- Driving the bus to the next target, come around a corner deep in our own territory and low and behold, an enemy Lightning! RAMMING SPEED! Driving over, and BLOWING IT UP in my bus.
- Drop pod roadkill; 1 enemy Liberator and 1 enemy Sundy exploded so far.
- Sundy off-road meyhem... yeah, that cliff was a little steeper than it looked. Sorry guys, next bus please.

This may be the greatest thing I've read in a while. Talk about dedication to the kill. My first day was pretty awesome, I went on a killing spree near New Haven and caused two scythes to crash into each other. They then came in with a train of Magriders and blew me up. Nonetheless... Worth it!
