I'll start this thread up by stating that I love all the squad based stuff the most about this game, the call outs, the teamwork, and the fun that we bring to the table with the fact that we whoop so much ass when we get the ball rolling, that it really makes Spec Ops the most sought after group to join. But, as with everything, there are certain aspects that can be improved upon. And please if there is anything you feel needs to be addressed feel free to add it.
- While it is amazing that many want to join Spec Ops, I feel it has to be limited to just a squad of 12. Having people leaving the main platoon to join Spec Ops causes problems for the main platoon with lack of leadership and people not knowing what to do there because our regular players are here in Spec Ops causing the main platoon be not as effective as before. Obviously it can't be helped that many of our members are seeking a more structured group to do these Ops with and "to perform at a higher level" (for a lack of a better phrase) but we still have to be an effective overall group that works in unison with all of the TxR platoons.
- The separation of the squad into different groups I felt worked VERY well, though I feel it was spread a bit too much. Three squad of 4 would be more effective I feel, that way we have a group for each cap point and everyone would be much tighter, capable of relaying information more effectively. (that and we don't get the whole confusion of "Infiltrator south of Bravo 2" and going to Delta 2 by mistake because of shitty coloring.)
- Communication I felt was a tad bit better than last week, but there was too much radio chatter over TS when we should have been relaying critical information. I'll admit it, I am SO guilty of this and its something I really need to work on and I feel that I'm getting better at it with each Spec Ops session but not nearly enough and I encourage others to work on it also because while it is fun to mock stupid Scythes that fly like idiots and crash into mountain sides, Its enough just letting us know that "enemy Scythes is down" or instead of cursing that fucking coward bitch-ass Heavy on B, just say "heavy on B" (None of this is directed at anyone so if you have cursed at a heavy, I didn't even know and am not calling you out or anything)
- Awareness. Please listen to what is said, its said for a reason. (probably) And yes this is concerning the very first drop of the night, where three others from Charlie squad and one from Delta squad failed to drop on the correct location and ended up having Kommander (Infiltrator) and myself (Max) trying to cap a base on our own, (really just him since i don't count as a real person) it caused quite a bit of confusion on our part and a bit of a moral drop considering it was the very first drop. Luckily we were able to pick it up from there which made the night much better, but to be brutally honest... it was horrible and my forehead hurt from the facepalm I gave myself. Still love you all but that was really bad.
- Hustle. And this again is really more directed at me more then anyone since there were moments where I tried getting my Max suit and for some reason it was bugging out on me making the gals wait up and for that I'm sorry so the hustle is mainly just on my end trying to get into a max when I really should have just jumped in the Gal. But everyone else was on the ball so good job to you guys.
And finally, I think the biggest thing that needs to be addressed is
- How to be an effective "Tool" Lets face it, Spec Ops is not about being the most badass mofos that can take down Platoons without the need of reinforcements, its about calculated strikes behind enemy lines, causing panic in the enemy, forcing them to pull back to another position, softening the defense to help the main platoon steamroll through the area and on to the next without too much trouble. We are only a squad and no matter how good we are as a group, if we go up against multiple platoons, we are gonna get overwhelmed eventually. I can see it if we have blown up their AMS Sundy and they have no other spawn location nearby we can easily take those guys out given enough time and with enough bullets but if we are trying to cap a base that is defended, we are useless. What we should be sent to are places that have some enemies but that can be caught off guard and killed for the cap.
Obviously this will take time. We are a tool, and as such we need some test runs for the operator to understand how to use us to the best of our ability. The best example of what we do in a small scale, is what we did with the North and West satellites at the Amp station on Esamir. We dropped on the roofs and cleared out the rooms and capped the satellites for the platoon to spawn on and capture the Amp Station, and when we didn't have the Gal, we moved on foot behind the hill line and sneaked up behind the Vanu, blew up their Sundy and wiped them out and capped the western satellite so they couldn't continue defending after the Amp station's SCU went kaboom.
That is my list of things I felt needed addressing. We ran into some bad luck at times, being spotted but a 10/12 gal with reaver escorts didn't really help us but for the most part I felt we did good.
Again if you want to add something you feel should be brought up, this is the place. Just try not to hurt each others feelings now. ;D
