Calling all the tread-heads!
Greetings TXR, it is I, your not-so-humble Skywatch commander here to bring you all an announcement concerning plans for this Friday's operation.
In the past several months TXR has come a long way. As an outfit, we've mastered the use of the new Galaxies. We've become experts in rapid response. Our infantry play is among some of the best on the server. Our air squadron can provide effective cover and offense in the most hostile zones. You folks can max crash with your eyes closed. TXR is well drilled in these areas and widely respected for what we can bring to the battlefield.
There is one place, however, that we have yet to master. One aspect of the game that has not received the developer's love in quite some time. Yet one more place for TXR to show innovation and domination: Armor.
It has been a long time since we've seen a TXR armored column roll out into the field, obliterating the enemy. The commanders have been discussing this for the past week and it has been decided that we are going to remedy this.
My philosophy on gaming goes a little something like this: It is not enough to just beat your opponent. They must be dominated. One way to do this is with brute strength. Another way is to change the way the game is played. When your opponent is reacting to what you are doing, you are dictating the terms of the game and establishing dominance.
Right now the armor game in PS2 is dominated by zergs camping bases. Tanks are only good for the 2 minutes it takes to break a bases' defenders and then camp them in their spawn room. This is boring.
But I believe there is an opportunity. I believe this because I have been here before. I got to lead a small group of friends back in the early days of World of Warcraft and we decided we were going to do something different. Open-world PvP like no one had seen it done before. We didn't spend our time grinding purples or leveling characters; we developed solid team-tactics and then shut down the zones that belonged to opposing factions. We took 6 level 39's (no mounts) and took down level capped players with raid gear. We ambushed them, divided them, drowned them, and led them on endless chases through their own zones. We decided when enemy players could level and when they couldn't. We blocked access to quest hubs, dungeons, and events. Alliance players could not ignore us and so several times there were massive inter-guild efforts to shut us down. Open-world PvP erupted on our server in a way that had not been seen before. The top alliance guilds refocused their efforts from raiding to dealing with us. We took mechanics that were not optimal, and created situations not intended by the developers to assert our dominance.
I see this opportunity again in PS2. I see an armor game that is maligned and brushed aside. I see a narrow-minded focus on certain zerg tactics. I know they can be beaten. With 6 other players, my small guild changed the way the game was played on our WoW server and created a legend that is still remembered. With this outfit, I'm confident we can do no less.
This Friday I'm going to put together a platoon-wide armored fighting force. Not just a zerg of tanks that can be brushed aside, but an effective mechanized force that will dictate the terms of the games to our opposition. We won't be responding to them. Friday, we'll be planting our feet on the ground, spitting in our hands, and daring our enemies to come to us.
Tactical details are currently being worked out. I will create a thread for this so that anyone with experience can help mold the tactics into something that will be truly dominant.
So cert up those armored vehicles and put your tanker helmets on, folks. The TXR Mechanized platoon is coming.
