I want to start making PS 2 vids and editing them. I heard Fraps was recommended along with another I cannot remember. I was wondering if I could get those program recommendations, as well as any other useful tutorials and tips. Thanks in advance

Sony Vegas Pro is all the professional editing software you'll ever need. www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegasproI think there's a free version, Talron or Changes could probably direct you to it, maybe?

I am just gonna throw this out there. I have fraps and I gotta say.... fuck it. Not that great of a program in my opinion.
Find someone who has good editing of PS2 videos and ask them what they use to make videos. You might have to buy/pirate a program though.

Fraps is garbage unless you like 50+gb files.
Use OBS not only does it let you capture locally in 1080p but it can also stream to Twitch.tv easily.
I can help you set it up.

What about good editing software that isn't 600 dollars?

I second OBS. As for no cost editing...it really comes down to what level of editing you want to do. If you want to do something as simple as splicing an intro, game cap footage and an outro together to make a vid then most of the movie maker apps that come bundle with a winblows machine will do you.
Avidemux is alawys one I go back to for many a year. It is a tight little app but it can get the job done if your needs meet its feature set.
I have not tried it but I hear great things about Lightworks. It is feature rich and a hell of a cool interface.
VLMC, from the VLC devs, is getting closer to being stable. Keep an eye on that.

Dude, just get PlayClaw! It's on Steam, it's actually pretty good =) Doesn't have some of the crazy cool features that some programs have, but it's simple and has like no effect on your frames which is sweet!
