It's happened!
The doors of the old Spec Ops are officially closed. The roster has been wiped, everyone must re-apply, even those who were previously in Spec Ops or have participated in competitive events.
I've deleted all old application and attendance threads. All that's left are our after-action reports and tactical discussions. If you want an idea on just how far we've come, check out the old ones. You can see from the AARs just how rapid redeployment came together as a tactic back in March, and get a further idea of the sort of thinking and gameplay that will be required of you as a member.
Why did we do this?
It's simple, really.
There's an emerging competitive scene in Planetside 2, and we're gonna jump in the deep end as an outfit.
The requirements of competitive play and the methodologies by which we craft and use tactics and strategy are not terribly different from how Spec Ops used to run. Organization, strict discipline, good communications, and out-of-the-box thinking are all key.
So, step into the ring with us! Take your game and your outfit to the next level, and help TXR win. You'll get to participate not only in big competitive events, but also skirmishes and other fun events that pit us head-to-head with other outfits.
Applications are open to anyone meeting the minimum requirements, and are not limited to infantry players. Pilots and tread-heads are welcome and will be utilized as needed.
For more information, read the other stickied posts. Feel free to post here with any questions, feedback, concerns, and so on.

So wait, are we going to have to be competitive players in the outfit to join, or is it still open as it was before, where you had to be x rank to apply?(Specialist I believe)

You need a specialist rank or higher to join, but no prior competitive experience is required.
Spec Ops is now how you get into competitions in the first place, so joining will make you a competitive player. Competitions limit the number of people we can bring, usually 12v12 or 24v24, so this will be how we decide who gets on the list and who doesn't. Spec Ops *is* the list.

Curious why there is no Battle rank minimum? I'd ask about a K/D minimum but that's a little unfair to pilots, engies and medics.
edit: I was told I should clarify. Whilst BR alone isn't a mark of a good player, it shows experience. The BR20's and such ask what weapons they should use, what certs to spend where... the BR90's and 100's know how the game is played. On the real server, they have pretty well certed out everything. They might not pull a prowler every minute but they have fully certed HEAT and AP guns, with vulcans or whatnot, with maxed acquistion timers.

There's no battle rank minimum not because we have any intention of letting in fresh new low level players, but because as you said, it's not the best way to judge a player.
(As a side note, you must be a "Specialist" or higher in the outfit, which requires BR30, so technically there is a BR requirement.)
For example, I approved GhostHawk6 for the team. His TR player is only BR30, just barely over the threshold for acceptance. However, I've played with him, talked with him, and know he's competent, and in fact, is among the leadership for the Devil Dog's spec ops group. That's experience that's valuable to us that can't be measured in BR.
Additionally, *most* real competitive stuff is going to take place on PTS, so your BR on the live server is irrelevant for those matches.
So, that's my reasoning. Everyone we accept are people we've had experience with in the field enough to judge them without looking at their BR. Though it's my name on the acceptance text, everyone that I'm not sure about (basically anyone that hasn't been in Spec Ops or a competition before) gets run by everyone else in leadership prior to acceptance.

i would say it depends on your real skill in game, not only BR and K/D. cara is not specialist nor BR30 yet (i think). his briggs? he's a field marshall. probably we can't really see their char from connery only

Let me just say this We are adopting to competitive gaming correct? and stats kinda matters Its pro vs pro If the outfit is totally serious about competitive gaming we need to set requirements for those who wants to apply in the future ( K/D,SPM,Game time, Regular K/D and kills) You want yourself to stand a chance against the best players of the game? Spend more time on the game. Gain better stats show your skills to them, let them notice you that you're a good player.Let the noobs hate you and the pros compliment you. Be more competitive( but please don't rage i wont help you at all stay calm stay focused and move on )

There's a lot of perfectly valid ways to approach competition. TXR has never been about limits or requirements or mandatory anything, we're a pretty chill group, all things considered. We don't plan to change to "fit in" competitively, we plan to do a competitive team our way in a way that jives with our culture. We've got quite a bit of recognition so far, and while it's true we're not gunning for this with the sort of serious-face competitive culture Recursion or Future Crew or any other upper echelon teams are, we're being named in the same breath as them.
That's pretty damn cool, I think. We're the only casual competitive outfit out there. Anyone can join, we don't mandate stats or play times, we're not exclusive or elitist, and yet, we're up there with the big dogs and still continuing to improve.
That, to me, is one of the best things about this community, and while I'm totally receptive to change and feedback, I'd be loath to change it. The rest of leadership is in agreement on that.

So, Lupin, you are saying that Planetside 2 does not possess a SINGLE statistic which is indicative of player ability? C'mon guy.
Furthermore, this is becoming silly. There is more than one way to compile a team. Pencil has said that our team is willing to give anyone who wants a shot at trying competitive play the chance. He is not saying we are going to field people who are not ready. TXR is always going to field the best possible squad that we can in competitive play. Those who make the starting cut are going to be the guys who can be trusted to get their job done, and buy into the system that TXR is attempting to create.
Worry less about others, that is Leadership's job. Worry about raising your individual skill base, and becoming a better team mate.

I know some players that's dedicated medics/engineers/drivers/pilots that has a goodlooking k/d and i dont have to calculate them cause is already computed in the stats website

One way or another this is happening and it's new we just have to work things out. The team itself is open to new members who meet a certain criteria and who work well together the "pro" stuff is just going to come with practice and more practice together.
We will have to work with each other to make ourselves better and we will have to learn classes in and out along with bases and vehicles.
So stats are one thing yes but that certainly does not mean we will work well together. So lets get working to that point that we can just say one thing and have everyone understand a speech from that.

Ok I'll shut up. eek I'm not the leaders Nah, no need to be like that. There's a lot to discuss, and hash out. Ultimately, we are not doing this for us. We're doing this for you guys. Leadership exists to make your experience with this stuff as awesome as possible. I think we all pretty much want the same thing here, we just have to work out the details and the semantics. If it turns out the player base (you guys) want something different than leadership, it's your views that should prevail, because it's you guys we're serving here. There should be no widely unpopular decisions imposed on any of you by leadership.

choosing members for competitive team based on things such as k/d will be just a turn off for developing players. like swatz said, we're a casual competitive outfit. TxR IMO is an outfit which creates competitive players, not an outfit that try to get one (future crew, recursion or NUC are probably some examples for me). the leadership could close TxR as a public outfit and change it into an elite outfit. but are you just going to point your fingers and saying other players "pleb" or actually making "pleb" into a real team player?

requirements wont be that much high tho (I would love to set like 1.0 k/d 100SPM on the 1st month and slowly increase it by .20 every like 2weeks? So that we can see how much progress our players do and see how competitive gaming helps us to improve our skills ) + if they get turned off because of the requirements to join competitive division it means that they are not really interested

Numbers never tell the whole story but they help fill in the blanks. I'm hoping at some point SOE will implement some kind of teamwork metric (average distance from squad members, number of squad repairs/revives/heals, average distance from squad/platoon waypoints). This would allow us to see for ourselves how often we achieve squad objectives and help our platoon out.
