When the game launches, you will need to uninstall the PlanetSide 2 Beta client and install the launch client via the PlanetSide 2 homepage. Instructions for removing the Beta client are as follows:
Windows XP
- Click Start, go to the Control Panel, then to Add/Remove Programs.
- Select PlanetSide 2 Beta and click Uninstall/Change at the top of the window or right click PlanetSide 2 Beta and select Uninstall/Change.
- Delete the PlanetSide 2 Beta folder located here: C:\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games.
- Finally, delete the file npsoeact.dll from this location: C:\Documents and Settings\(Your Account)\Application Data\Sony Online Entertainment.
Windows Vista/7
- Click Start, go to the Control Panel, then under Programs select Uninstall a program.
- Select PlanetSide 2 Beta and click Uninstall/Change at the top of the window or right click PlanetSide 2 Beta and select Uninstall/Change.
- Next delete the PlanetSide 2 Beta folder located here: C:\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games.
- Finally, delete the file npsoeact.dll from this location: C:\Users\(Your Account)\AppData\LocalLow\Sony Online Entertainment.
Windows 8
The file system is exactly the same as Vista and 7, except for the location of the Control Panel. You can follow the same steps in the Windows Vista/7 section to uninstall PS2 once you're there.
To get to the Control Panel, move the mouse cursor to the top or bottom right side of the screen until a set of options appear. Once the options appear click on Settings and the Control Panel will appear. Alternately, just mouse over the area here the Start button used to appear and right click to see the Control Panel option.
Troubleshooting
Error 1001
- If you receive a message that an "Exception occurred while uninstalling (Error 1001)," the game client was only partially uninstalled from your computer. This issue can be resolved by manually deleting the entire PlanetSide 2 folder and removing the shortcut from your desktop.
