I'm not sure that qualifies as road rage as much as it does the driver leaving those people no further options.
If you try to kill someone, and they catch up to you and you continue to frustrate their efforts to resolve the matter civilly, I think you have earned the uncivil response.
Our culture has completely forgotten WHY we have manners, etiquette, and police. These are not the only recourse available, they are the most civil. When you circumvent the civil society, it doesn't mean you circumvent the consequences. There are just new, uncivil, consequences.
If someone were to try to run me over, or run me off the road, or try to kill me, they should immediately find a police officer and submit themselves for arrest. For their own protection; nothing the police will do is as bad as what I'm prepared to do once that line has been crossed.

In retrospec it does kinda seem like the bikers fault, 0:05 in the Biker who was run over is behind the SUV, pulls along next to it, seemingly waving his arms for the drivers attention (I presume asking the SUV to slow down or something still unknown) with no effect so he pulls infront of the SUV trying to force a result and consequently gets himself hit... Did he expect a different outcome when he hits the breaks at 25mph, less then 3 feet infront of a SUV?
I'm a little sympathetic to the SUV knowing there's a wife and kid involved... As far as the driver can tell a sudden Biker group appears out of nowhere and one of them is nocking on your windshield to pull over, accident happens, panic mode activates - protect the family!
Of course he shouldn't of run for it after hitting someone but what's done is done, I'm very curious to see how this ends up.

Well, apparently the police have arrested 2, charged one. And aren't going to be charging the SUV driver.
And I wouldn't get out to face 50 faux-bikers after I just hit one of them.....
I'm curious what led up to this, apparently these bikers are fairly well known in new york for causing problems, driving on sidewalks, running red lights in droves and harassing drivers and pedestrians.

From what I can tell during the video, the bikers are originally upset with the SUV driver because he is not moving over to the left for them to pass, forcing bikers to pass the SUV on the right. The SUV does not have to get over, but it is common courtesy to move to the left lane to allow faster traffic to pass you. If the SUV would have just gotten into the left most lane, there wouldn't have been any problem.
One of the bikers becomes frustrated with the driver, pulls in front of the SUV and brake checks him. The SUV guy, probably rattled, fucks up and slightly hits him. If you are rattled and not familiar to motorcycles, their braking speed and distance can be can fool you into thinking they are farther ahead of you then they are.
Now the SUV driver is fucked. If you rear end somebody, you are always at fault. Doesn't matter the speed or the street type; you are always at fault. Guy in SUV should have just pulled, or remained where the bikers surrounded him; staying in his car until the police came. Dude just straight up panics and bolts, probably doing so before even pausing to think.
I will say, it is good that this video exists. This video probably going to put the SUV driver in jail. Without this video, the bikers would have been most likely demonized for being bikers and beating some poor guy up. Without video evidence of the SUV running people over, the majority of the evidence and bystanders would corroborate whatever story the driver wanted to tell as to why he was assaulted.
While not charged, the SUV driver can still be tried in civil court for damages.

For those of you that joined Planetside relatively recently, this is what armor columns looked like in beta and through the first few months of release.

Ahem, well apparently the bikers caught up to him later, hauled him out and beat him up.
emergency crews showed up to find the bikers gone and the driver lying in a pool of his own blood, so...
I imagine they mobbed him and he got scared and drove off... I probably would do if some guys were banging on my windows and yelling.

I support Hereticus here because if you look at 0:24 what the heck is the biker doing slowing down only a few feet in front of the car? Does the driver really think hitting a single biker out of many think he will somehow survive a hit-and-run with a bunch of bikers? really? I bet 9 out of 10 the jeep drove away because their first and probably only thought was kill first ask questions later. Absolutely only logical scenario was the driver was caught off guard for a mere second or so and freaked out for his life knowing they wouldn't give a shit why they swarmed this car and finally got hit.

That's odd, they updated the link. The original story I posted was about how 5 off duty NYPD members were part of the motorcycle horde during the incident.

usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/10/04/20820832-undercover-cop-was-on-scene-when-bikers-beat-range-rover-driver-officialsThere were 3 Off-Duty NYPD Officers riding with the Bikers, It's still unknown as to why the Off-Duty cops were with them but 1 of the 3 Officers was a Undercover Cop who didn't come forth until 4 days after the incident. The cops so far seem simply guilty of association having not actually attacked or done anything all together other then be there, But it is pointed out that they are Officers of the Law, off duty or not they are obligated to intervene and do something to break up the scene or at least aid the wounded/victims of which they didn't.

I don't blame them for not because there were 50 or so angry bikers but in general nyc cops suck.
