1. Explain how do you meet the following requirements:
-Must be in the Outfit for at least two months
Yup.
-Must be at least Specialist Rank
Got it.
-Takes initiative to Squad/Platoon Lead when available
Take initiative during FNOs and when I'm on.
-Must Start Certing into Squad Beacon
Maxed all leadership certs.
-Works well with peers
I'd like to think I do.
-Demonstrates a working knowledge of game mechanics and strategy
I'd like to think I know a fair amount. Always willing to learn more.
-Must be willing to learn and take constructive criticism
No problem there.
2. Why do you want to lead? What motivates you?
So leadership will love me, and I don't have to cry myself to sleep at night.
I'm an advancement oriented person, and this is the next step for me within the outfit. I'm very focused on personal growth and bettering the community around me. I want/need to be one of the best and hold myself accountable for my own advancement without delusions about my ability/knowledge level. I feel that my level of drive would be of benefit in leadership positions both in combat and off the field.
Also, I was asked to fill out an app.
3. Why should we trust you with our Squads/Platoons?
I'm willing to learn and actively enforce PL orders. I understand the difference between hijacking a squad to do what I want and creatively supporting the assigned objective. I'm also the often the first to redeploy and be on point immediately after a redeploy is called and I would never ask a squad to do anything I'm not already doing.
4. How do you handle stress and heated situations?
I generally handle stress by focusing more. It puts me in the "zone". Overtime was/is my favorite time to play in any sport. I love stress in competitive play, it makes the situation more fun for me.
As far as internal stress I tend to withhold judgement and discussion until after combat. Once we get out then we can discuss the situation, what caused it, and how to address it.
5. Are you able to diffuse situations before they escalate into bigger problems?
I'd like to think I am. I have no problem calling out troublemakers before situations escalate. I'm very vocal as a leader and will call out squad members who haven't adjusted without due cause within 30-40 seconds after an order is given. I expect complete cohesion from my squads. (Which in turn I expect myself to provide the tools so my squad can accomplish whatever order was given.)
6. How is your experience with dealing with inter-outfit conflicts?
Moderate. I've had to deal with PR related issues in my previous outfit. Issue led to several members being dismissed due to the severity of the results of their actions. Dismissal occurred 2-3 days after the event and after some serious discussion.
7. How would you rate your strategic knowledge of Planet Side 2?
7/10. I understand the role terrain and location play, as well as force dispositions and counters. I'd like to work on my ability to react faster and learn more about counters to enemy vehicle tactics. My infantry knowledge is fairly solid however.
8. How would you describe your leadership ability out of 10
7.5. I have a strong personality and I tend to get more focused as the situation gets worse. This can make me tunnel vision a bit however, so a reminder once in a while never hurts. I understand that I can be stern with my squad/platoon so long as I treat myself the same way. Never ever expect my guys to do something if I'm not right there with them myself.
9. What are your biggest contributions you can bring as a leader to TXR?
I'm extremely perceptive when it comes to operations and formalizing the norms in a given situation (See the Introduction to Platoon Operations). I haven't been with TXR since founding, and can bring fresh eyes to otherwise standard practices. I understand command solidarity/unity. I love pressure situations. I also desire the best outcome for the most possible people around me in combat and noncombat situations.
10. How do you feel TXR can benefit from you being in a leadership position?
I bring enough experience to know what I'm doing but am new enough to question things that might be assumed. I enforce PL orders and always strive to be a positive force within the outfit regardless of game. I understand the worth of building a team/group, and am able to prioritize between immediate needs and long term needs. I understand that the needs of the outfit are above my needs when it comes to behaviors and outfit related decision making.
11. Have you ever been a Guild(Clan, Outfit, Corporation, etc. pending on your gaming history) Leader, Officer, or a Event Organizer?
I was raid lead and main tank in SWTOR for several months, as well as being an officer for the majority of that time. Responsibilities are pretty much what it seems. Understanding all raid mechanics, managing aggro, and making sure people are there and ready to go. And of course the usual leadership duties involved with leading an outfit/guild.
12. TXR Troopers have been taunting a fellow TXR for being a Brony, This Trooper has had enough and chosen to retaliate by team killing, not only fellow TXR but allied TR, even going as far as selling us out to the enemy. How do you deal with this situation? Why do you choose this path?
First and foremost I need to get the situation so it doesn't interfere with the rest of the platoon. I would immediately separate each offender to their own channels, first telling them why I'm moving them. Afterwards as the situation allows I would talk to the taunted member about how he/she reacted and why it can't happen again ever. Once I was satisfied with the offending members understanding of their wrongdoing in the situation and asked them to come to me first if it ever happens again, I would talk to the taunting members. Again, I'd want them to understand what they did can never happen again, and why it is so serious (Violates CoC, etc.). After which I'd bring both parties together and explain what I've discussed with both of them one more time, so both parties know the other party has been held accountable as well. From there I'd make sure that they know that if situations like this ever occur again it could have serious repercussions for them within the outfit.
13. Every Field Commander has there preference in battle strategy - Offensive, Defensive, Guerrilla play styles, or Infantry, Armor, Air force favorites. What’s your command style and why?
I love a good offensive maneuver done from a combined arms standpoint. I'm divided on whether I prefer open land armor and air main combat strength with infantry support or infantry building assaults with armor providing suppression. Either way, I love a good siege.
14. Communications have broken down in your Platoon, the order to “Clear Comms” has been ignored and casual conversation is persisting, The battle your Platoon is in is very intense, your force is on the verge of defeat. What action do you take to convince people to get tactical and fight rather then talk?
A divided platoon cannot function and this disconnect lies between leadership and members. I would immediately and without hesitation silence the worst offenders via either mutes in TS if that is an option, or removal from the platoon. I would ask for further rallying and "enforcing" from the SLs. I would be extremely clear on why this was done, and that as members of TXR they agreed to a Code of Conduct that they are now violating. I would explain in brief the strategic importance of the current action and why I need them on their assigned points. My hope in this is that I can re-establish the command/squad/squad member relations. If further chats continue all offending members will be removed from the platoon, with potential repercussions within the outfit later. (Assuming this is during an organized official operation)
16. Do you understand the responsibilities that come with TXR leadership?
I do.
Please understand that we are looking for the essential components of leadership that include: Maturity, Responsibility, Composure and Respect.
Thank you for your application and good luck!
