I heard rumors posted, and saw a few things on the PS2 forums about ESF's no longer being able to use verticle thrust...
can anyone substantiate this? Will the ass-backward tactics of ESF 'Aces' finally be put to rest? And we can actually have proper dogfighting?
ESF dogfighting right now is something i call a 'circle jerk' rather than... you know.. real dogfighting.
Coltorl's gonna be mad.

It sucks that their doing this, but apparently it's possible to bring the factor from 2(post nerf AB factor) back to 8(factor in live server) so while I can't run hellfires anymore it means I'll be shooting down ESFs more often because of the significant advantage I have against them with the ability to perform to maneuver.
Also, 'proper' dogfights are extremely boring, they always end in less than 5 seconds and its always about getting behind the victim to end their life quickly. There's a reason why I quit flying in Battlefield 3 and moved to PS2.

"We’re also trying out a change to the lift factor granted by afterburners when in hover mode. We’ve reduced it from a factor of 8 to a factor of 2. This should make the reverse thrust still doable but will lower its abruptness and diminish your top speed while doing so."
Haven't played on the test server, but this doesn't entirely remove the hover-tumbling thing that we have go on in combat at the moment, just the instantaneous evade that ESFs can pull in hover mode.

Having played on the test server, there is absolutely no point to committing to the reverse maneuver as you're going so slow that a tank shell will hit you.

This actually sounds pretty cool. I was getting pretty tired of the reverse thrust stuff. Maybe reaver pilots will have to actually learn to fly now...
