This is a thread for people who like to play ArmA 2 and 3. (ArmA stands for Armed Assault.) Now to sort out this thread I will be explaining what ArmA is to the people who are clueless and how it works. Also, keep in mind as of writing this I have been awake for about... 30 hours? I'm not sure.
Anyways, ArmA is a milsim (Military Simulator)for the PC. The idea of this game is to make it as realistic as possible while keeping it fun. For example, you will be effected differently based on the size of the bullet when you are hit anywhere but the head. For example you can take a few 9mm rounds to the chest and still live long enough to get to your squad's medic but you will die instantly to a .50 cal. Which seem obvious, but where the milsim here is that both guns with kill you in 1 shot if you are hit in the head. If you are constantly running you will fatigue and your aim will be thrown off till you stop and take a breather. You can break your leg and many other things.
Now most of you know ArmA for being the game that hosts the DayZ mod. But you are missing many different styles of gameplay that you might enjoy. For this part, keep in mind that we haven't explored these modes completely and these aren't all of them. Since ArmA is made to be a highly editable game whether it is using the ingame editor or scripting.
The few missions which me and the others play would be: Wasteland, The Life missions, domination/invade, DayZ, CTI (I believe its called.) and custom missions. Overviews below.
DayZ - There are plenty of threads and places to go for info on this so I wont be posting this here.
Wasteland - Its like DayZ without zombies. You spawn into a town randomly, locate a vehicle and loot it for a weapon. (vehicles are everywhere.)Once you get some gear and a ride you then fight for survival, this is where is differs from DayZ. There are 3 sides, 2 are teams and 1 is a free for all. You build bases, kill players and complete missions if they pop up. Missions are where you have to kill a squad of NPCs for the object, whether it is supplies, guns, vehicles or tanks.
Domination/Invade - These two modes are basically the same. You spawn in at a base, choose your gear from a box and then usually hop into a helicopter and head off to the AO (Area of Operation). You job is basically to head to the marked location on the map and clear out all hostiles, destroy a radio tower, and capture the base. Pretty simply but assaulting a location is harder than you may think. But still loads of fun.
CTI - A mission kind of like Natural Selection 2 but on a bigger scale. You assign one person or an AI to command your team. Then you expand your territory by taking it from the other two. Using money you get from killing hostiles, destroying there stuff, and salvaging their/your wrecks of course. The money can be used on things ranging from weapons for you, to infantry, vehicles whether they are Humvees, tanks, helicoptors, or artillery, and other fun things of destruction.
Custom Missions - Anything that is just a small mode or whatever that one of us is hosting. Nothing fancy or anything.
The Life Missions - Saved for last due to that is one of the more complex missions we play. Basically is called the map name then life. For example the most popular on is takistan life, it takes place on the map takistan. These missions allow you to be the hard working civilian you want to be, the gang, cop, terrorists, petty theif, president, PMC, etc. that you wanted to be. What me, bubbles and carnifex recently did was play as terrorists and drive around the many city doing hit and runs on the police while bubbles sniped from a hill top.
There are plentiful missions and things that we are missing out on because we lack the numbers, experience, and organization that other gaming groups have in ArmA at the moment so we are missing out on some of the other fun things like simulated wars and the like.
At the moment there are only a few of us that play legit ArmA. These ones I am listing off as the ones who I have played with in ArmA outside of DayZ and on TS so don't be offended if I leave you off.

Feel free if you see us in the random games/ArmA channels to hit us up with questions since half the time right now we are playing ArmA. (I can only endorse me and bubbles on this one. Since some like TotalZone are new or others don't want to be bothered. Not sure on the later.) Just be courteous about it and when we ask you to be quite do so until the person asking says otherwise. Its annoying to get killed and such because you cant hear that guy yelling at you or the tank rolling down the road.
