I read that early. A lot of those options require intense reworking of integral code (like the way damage is applied based on angle of shell impact).
If the game was a game ABOUT tanks, those suggestions would all be good. As it is, several (or many) are completely useless.
It's like the threads were pilots suggest improvements to the air game by completely reworking the game's flight physics, increasing the ceiling, and essentially writing a second game within Planetside for flying.
IMHO:
The game is focused on infantry capturing bases. Everything else is ancillary. There is no reason why tanks and planes can't have a significant supporting role, but the changes won't be made by addressing tanks or planes themselves, but rather the ways in which they interact with the rest of the game (like facility lay-out, or AA).

I love it and want it all! But most of it we will probably never see because it's just not a practical and convenient for most users. Here's a interesting thread I've been following about MBT: www.planetside-universe.com/showthread.php?t=54323 The general consensus it seems to me on the biggest issue in the game right now is that everything is just to easily killable that it takes away the awe of a epic fight, Tanks should not be spammed and neither should they be a simple thing to dispose of. The general discussion of the thread is the balance of a MBT and it eventually devolves into "SOE will never add Multi-Crew MBT's but Heavy Tanks could do that and ballance the game" which I think this one guy posts a generally simple and practicle answer to the MBT situation "I don't think adding a third multi-crew tank would be beneficial, as others have proposed. I actually think it would be a balancing nightmare.
Multi-Crew Heavy Tank > Main Battle Tank > Lightning
Where would the Lightning stand in this pyramid? Everyone would still choose solo MBTs over them, making them completely useless.
That said, I have been supporting the idea of multi-crew MBTs since the very beginning, having not even played the original game. IMO, making MBTs solo from the very beginning has completely thrown off the balance between armour and infantry in PS2, especially when every Joe can pull his own war machine.
Currently infantry has a variety of ways of disposing armour, the result being that MBTs have become glass cannons. You can't buff MBT health while they're still solo to counter because they'll just start farming infantry again.
SOE needs to reconsider. It's maybe four months after release, but I don't think it's too late.
Smedley, for as much as I respect the man, needs to stuff his "It's more fun this wayhurhur" attitude.
Make MBTs multi-crewed. Make Lightnings good solo tanks.
The lightning needs to be to the MBT what the ESFs are to Liberators. If you want superior firepower, please try to work with others."I completely agree with this post, I think its dead on accurate

Agreed. I simply posted itbecause i would loveto see some of these. Realistically- most won't work. Something does need to be done in regard to all vehicles though. I don't think we'll see any of these ideas be implemented as posted, but may be a step in the general right direction. Multi crew is fine by me as well. However i believe the argument is this though: there are A LOT of lone wolves who don't want to join an outfit or have to deal with some random pub who can't aim. Even if the role of lightning is buffed and becomes the "lone-wolf tank" it will be forcing players to skip over a part of the game.

I don't think there's enough lonewolf players to justify forcing MBT mechanics to be a solo tank. The entire driving force behind the game is Team Work, Coordination, and Outfits.

The entire driving force of the game as of now is zerging. While, maybe, for a little while 3-man tanks will probably peak the interest of many all I see is people getting frustrated with it and ultimately bitching about it. Again, I would love the idea and in a perfect world where people use comms like they're supposed to (they can't all be TxR), I won't doubt that others won't take too kindly to it.
