Edit: This was an April Fool's joke. The first paragraph is 100% true, everything else I made up. TXR is going to be competing forever- no way in hell we'd pack it up just because we lost! Can't believe any of you believed that quitter bullshit!
TXR's competitive team put on a tremendous performance in our Community Clash match against Future Crew. Your leadership is tremendously proud of you guys. We trained hard, we had a great strategy, and we executed it perfectly. Everyone worked together perfectly, and it was by far the best game of Planetside TXR has ever played. It's unfortunate that we were pitted against the best of the best in the first round, but there's no shame in losing to the best. Even Future Crew's leaders issued our praises after the match. They didn't expect a fight out of us, but they still practiced and trained as if we were a serious opponent (classy!). We faced them at their best, and they said they were very impressed with us, and we surprised them and gave them a lot more trouble at places than they expected.
The fact of the matter is, however, that we were outplayed. We have some enormously talented players in TXR, but we simply can't field a team of all-stars the way FCRW can. We don't want to start mandating play times or being serious about stats- that's not our style, and we won't compromise our outfit's culture just to field a better team. So, the generals took an honest look at what our options were for the future of the competitive team. Realistically, it is unlikely our team can practice more and get better than it is now, and we don't want to field a team if it isn't going to reflect well on our outfit. A 24-0 loss, no matter how noble or well fought, puts us in the same category as DPSO. Plus, the competitive stuff is a huge time sink, and ops and other events take second place. Was it worth it?
One option was to recruit top talent from other outfits to fill out our team. This option was seriously considered, but the concern was that we didn't want to be seen as having ringers- after talking so much shit about DA doing it, or NNG when they rode on the backs of TGWW to victory. That's not us. If we can't win as TXR, what's the point.
So, in a 2-1 vote, we decided to suspend our competitive team until we could work out these problems. We will still play all the events we're currently scheduled for, but we will not be participating in PAL or registering for the next season of Community Clash until we can work out how to make our team everything we want it to be.
If there's still a lot of interest in doing this sort of thing, we may still schedule some scrims against other outfits. If you guys have any questions or feedback, let us know.
