Ya, they've been making the rounds for a while now. Watch "Global Metal", documentary by Sam Dunn. Japan has teh strangest most diverse metal scene as far as the genre goes. And the from what I gather, the fans of "western" metal have a feud with the people who listen to the more Japanese influenced stuff.
(First video is kinda fucked, but so is Dir En Grey, so no surprise there.)

I like my metal and in the past I have been known to listen to J-Pop, ala Gundam and other anime series, but this boggles my mind. It's like if I took these two bands from TN back in my highschool days, Feeble Weiner and Second Saturday, that was a pop rock styled band, mixed it with metal, and made them hot japanese girls, and this is what you would get. Interesting... to say the least....
