The one thing I'm seeing about this game is that aircraft actually are matched up to the types of battles you would have seen back in the WWII era. Granted biplanes were all but gone by the time the war started. So, the tier 1 battles are bit off, but the rest look legit.
For Instance, F4F Wildcats were produced till the end of the war to serve on escort carriers that couldn't hold the larger F6F Hellcats. So those aircraft would be flying up against the "higher tiered" Zeros and other aircraft. All versions of the P-51 stayed in service throughout the war. Many units would have a mix of the different versions. P-47 Thunderbolts are flying Jugs but still took out a large number of Luftwaffe aircraft. Gabby Gabreski was the top Ace of the ETO and Richard Bong surpassed him in the PTO during WWII with 40 kills. Gabreski got 28 kills in Europe and all in a P-47 before being shot down and captured. "Pappy" Boyington, commander of the legendary VMF-214 Black Sheep Squadron, tied Gabreski as well but in P-40s with the American Volunteer Group, more affectionately knows as the "Flying Tigers", with most of his kills with the 214 in the vaunted F4U Corsair. Bottom line? It's the pilot that makes the difference. Though the airplane helps some times. Fight on your terms, not your enemy's. Fight smart, and fly smarter.
