Purpose:
Command has requested a restructuring of the specialty divisions to better reflect the proficiency of our membership. Membership in Skywatch will, from this point on, reflect your skill with various aircraft and not just your interest in being a pilot. Wearing wings will require you to meet minimum standards and to maintain a minimum level of activity with the squadron.
Earning your wings:
There will be three Skywatch specialty badges:
1. Fighter
2. Gunship
3. Air Lift
Each has unique requirements.
Fighter Requirements:
- 20 hours in a mosquito
- At least 9/10 pips on acquisition timer (6:00 timer)
- 2 nose gun choices
- Ownership of Hellfires, hornets, or Tomcats
- Maxed defensive slot of choice
- Level 3 air frame of your choice
- Flares (any level) and 1 utility of choice (3/4 pips)
- 250 infantry and/or vehicle kills
- Fly with Skywatch for 3 ops (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or special arrangement)
- Endorsement by squadron member
To Maintain Certification: +6 hours in a mosquito per 3 months (quarterly reviews) and 2 ops a month in a mosquito.
Gunship Requirements:
Pilot:
- 20 hours flying a liberator
- At least 9/10 pips on acquisition timer (6:30 timer)
- 2 belly gun choices
- Level 3 air frame of choice
- Maxed defensive slot of choice
- Maxed utility of your choice
- Pilot a liberator with Skywatch for 3 ops (as above)
- Endorsement by a lib gunner
Maintain: +6 hours in a liberator per 3 months and 2 ops a month in a liberator
Gunner:
- 350 kills as a gunner (dalton, zephyr, duster, shredder kills)
- 9/10 pips on acquisition timer (6:30 timer)
- 2 belly gun choices
- level 3 air frame
- Maxed defensive slot of choice
- Maxed utility slot of choice
- Fly with Skywatch for 3 ops (as above)
- Endorsement by a lib pilot
Maintain: +75 kills in a liberator per 3 months and 2 ops a month as a lib gunner
Air Lift Requirements:
- 15 hours in a galaxy
- Acquisition timer 8/10 at least (8:00 minute timer)
- Maxed defensive slot of choice
- level 3 air frame
- Upgraded guns in each slot. May choose to modify drakes or purchase walkers and/or bulldogs with optics.
- Fly with skywatch in 3 ops (as above) or serve as a gal pilot for infantry squads in 3 ops as above (confirmed by squad leader endorsement)
- Endorsement by squadron mate, gunner, or any one of Sergeant rank or above
Maintain: 3 hours in a galaxy per 3 months and 2 ops a month as a galaxy pilot (Skywatch or infantry)
-----------------
Kills - I will accept a combination of infantry and vehicle kills. Thus shooting down an enemy fighter counts for 2, assuming you get the pilot. Kill Multi-crew aircraft for big points. First and foremost we are a team. If I had a way to track assists, those would count just as high for me. All joking aside, a kill is a kill. If you want credit for the kill, get the kill. Anyone I catch actually complaining about assists or kill-stealing will lose their flight status and spend the next op on foot making airplane noises with their mouths. They will then write a lengthy post on the importance of team work both in the outfit and in the air and the meaning of esprite de corps.
Certs - Having access to low-timer, well-certed aircraft is a must. Liberator pilots and gunners are both on the hook for having a certed lib. We share the expense of pulling aircraft when we can.
Endorsements - You need your teammates to like you and want to work with you. If you can't convince other pilots you deserve your wings, there is something wrong there. I strongly recommend you do not rely on me for your endorsement. I'm sure I'll like you just fine, but I want you to learn to play well with your new brothers and sisters, too.
Badge Presentation - You are more than welcome to earn and maintain as many badges as you desire. You will be asked to display only one at a time, however, to keep from cluttering TS more than is necessary.
Maintenance - You will be required to complete a bare minimum of tasks each quarter to maintain your membership and proficiency. The Skywatch badges are no longer one-and-done deals. You must continue to fly with the squadron and grow as a pilot or crew member. The badge requirements do not, by any stretch of the imagination, equate to mastery of your given area - only that you are proficient.
Reviews - I will review each member's stats every quarter (3 months) using Dasanfall's stats tracker to make sure you are current with the continuing requirements. Badges may be lost if you do not meet your maintenance requirements. Badges may be re-issued once you are current with your requirements again. It is on you to make sure you let me know when you've earned your badge again.
