The author's intent in writing the book is neither to stop people from using social media nor to really even to say that data mining is "evil". Instead its to make them more thoughtful on how people use social media and how companies use users private data.www.nytimes.com/2013/10/15/opinion/nocera-a-world-without-privacy.html?_r=0www.nytimes.com/2013/10/10/business/media/the-circle-a-novel-by-dave-eggers-prompts-debate-on-technology.htmlIts also heavily based on 1984 even down to its own set of 3 slogans:SHARING IS CARING.SECRETS ARE LIES.PRIVACY IS THEFT.
