So I want to put the pledge bragging aside about who spent how much on what and figure out the nitty gritty details of a Fleet. The games still far off and we're still learning what roles we'll be able to play but based off the awe and scope of what all Robert is looking to offer us to play with... I want to know who's interested in doing what in the TXR Fleet. Everyones interests may change between now, beta, and launch but lets have fun in exploring this! Conceivably I would imagine the roles in our fleet being.. Flagship - The crown jewel of our fleet that everything revolves around, This ship doesn't have to be the strongest or most powerful ship in our Fleet but certainly our favorite. Traditionally it's the ship the Admiral is on, It could belong to Changes, Talron, Tom, or any of our Admirals, or it could just be a fan favorite in our commmunity. What kind of ship do you want to see in this role and who do you think is most likely to Captain such a ship? Capital Ships - Carriers and Battleships! These are the real giant monsters that are slow but carry devestating firepower or just house our smaller vessels. Supply Ships - Fuel Tankers, Repair Ships, Mining Vessels, Cargo Transports! These are the ships that our fleet would fall apart without these guys finding and supplying the resources to keep us operational! Picket Line - Destroyers, Cruisers, Frigates! These are the larger escort ships acting as both shield and sword to protect our fleet! Fighter Screen - Fighters, Bombers, Gunships! Our hotshot dog-fighters out there weaving through salvo barrages and sparring with incoming enemy fighter craft, These guys are the long-arm of TXR possessing the ability to nock out larger enemy ships with greater precision then our Capitals or Piket line without actually having to endanger the larger ships. Boarding Marines - Now boarding hasn't exactly been officially announced or even made clear but there's talk about this being a possibility, so for fun if it was available who's our bold marines doing the most dangerous task IMO and boarding a enemy vessel in hopes of capturing or crippling it in the middle of a fleet battle, risking there lives to board a ship that is under bombardment! There are of course other roles to a fleet such as electronic warfare or Scouts but these Six are what I see as the most important to shaping a Fleet, Feel free to give a shout about some other roles that I may of missed that you feel are just awesome and don't forget to vote on who's your favorite for Flagship of the TXR space navy! Don't like the options? Vote other and see who steps up to the plate to lead our Navy!

I would love to get a carrier to support the fleet but I imagine that would be something high-end that you ain't gonna get right off the bat, unless you payed for it I suppose, so to supplement the needs of TXR I think I'll work on Supply and support, My interests lay in...
Supply Ship - Fuel Tanker: The Starfarer has really caught my interests because we're bound to run out of fuel eventually and there's the chance that it can even carry a few smaller craft in it's hold.
Picket Line - Frigate: I'd like something like a Frigate armed with AA turrets or lock-on missile launchers, overall a build dedicated to shooting down hostile fighter screens.

If the game pans out, I could see myself flying fighters or a destroyer, maybe.

I don't see Talron as staying on Flag Ship (if he even decides to play this game). His style is to lead from the front. Heck I bet you he would lead the boarding marines!

Most likely flying assault craft full of Marines, if that makes it to the game. Otherwise, piloting a heavy craft loaded bulkhead to bulkhead with EWar

Love the thread Hereticus! I see myself on the supply side bringing arms and other supplies with "Cheap Dick's Surprise". First attempt at a name for my Freelancer. Be nice, I thought it up in the last 10 seconds. lol Also, maybe as a part of the escort wing of the supply end. Transports are easy pickins for groups of fighters!
TSilver, sounds like you need a tasty F7C-R with stealth upgrades!!

I want a ship capable of locking down the search and tracking capability of multiple ships, jamming them so hard they wish they had peanut butter and a loaf of bread.

I see Talron and changes as leading our fighter wings into battle or leading our boarding marines. I see Tom as sitting back and talking to the other leaders of the groups organizing and managing things.
Honestly this game is going to be playing out differently than PS2 or any of our other games do because the Admiral positions are going to probably play out more on strategy than tactics and skill. Less blue collar more white collar.
On a side note.... DIBS on a battleship.

Seeing as I like subterfuge style play I would most likely go with an electronic warfare or stealth type ship. I also have interest in bombers (stealth bomber would be the shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!). More than likely once we get a better handle on the game and ships Changes and I will most likely be teaming up in some type of ship.

I see Talron leading suicidal boarding partys that never come back alive but somehow destroy the enemy ship.
Changes locked up in the brigg because he tried making the carrier T-bag all the enemy ships, Caustic coming up with schemes to break his brother out of the brigg.
Tom will be down in the hangar cursing pilots out when they land wrong and damage the hangar equipment while also he repairs everyone's ship. He'll have Mlane and Sinistersmith as his engineer crew.
Pencil and Swatz are going to be trolling the hangar doors and closing them everytime someone trys to take off causing them to crash, That or locking Wrex in the bathroom.
We're going to have the BEST fleet ever! Very excited!

Me? As General Ackbar? Nope... In game I will either be a Mr Spock or a Han Solo. Maybe even a Lt. Rasczak. AS with many things TxR I see us working more as a collective federation of like minds rather than a top down hierarchical pow pow power structure. That shiz is so 1600's man.

They only have one server currently and it's just the hangar module. I imagine we will be on the west coast server. Thing is, server won't matter as the central server will be conducting the matchmaking based on your friends list and people of interest. Check out the 10 for the chairman on their YouTube channel. Chris Roberts explains the server setup in detail.

I'm thinking high value or VIP transport. Maybe emergency reserve for fighter or cargo ships if not on a regular basis. Maybe medium cargo carrier in a fighter group. Something between dangerous and cargo usage, a jack of all trades that can do a little of everything to merge roles as a hybrid.

If this game ever becomes more than a new life on a private island for Chris Roberts, I'm going to be looking to put together a crack raider unit. I've got some friends who are interested in that kind of play that I want to bring into the fold in one capacity or another.
I'm also itching to command an elite fighter squadron for fleet defense or rapid strike.

I just read all comments in this discussion. Amazing and hilarious made my day.
Defiantly would be leading a suicide run to take out the main enemy mother ship and go out in a blaze of glory kinda like in independance day when that guy goes up into the alien vortex light beam thingy

Capital ship sounds like my kind of thing. Wake me up when the game hits a playable state. I've pledged nothing as of yet but I am 100% dead set on playing the game and with you guys.
Edit - if supply ships play a 'healer' role, you might want to count me in that instead.
