I am working on the server right now trying to make some sense of this whole server issue. I am able to lob into the server using the older DW client. I am going to see if it is possible to upgrade things without loosing the world.
If you do log in today things might be up and down, I will send msgs in game to let you know ahead of time when things are going to get wonky.

You can't. If you check the news tab of the client, it will tell you that you do in fact have to re create the world.

This appears to be crashing on a daily basis now. I think moving to the newer FTB is going to be a must to keep this from getting any worse. Downside this will mean a world redo. Do not know what else to say, the code is just plain out crashing like mad.

www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1636125-midas-patch-maker-midas-gold-convert-your-world-world-block-item-id-converter-for-mods/Does appear to be viable if both of the direwolf packs have the exact same mods in it, and should allow you to ID remap without needing to manually do it. Might still lose some IC2 and portal gun mod stuff, but that's probably acceptable considering all else. I'll run a test later to see if this can be done on a basic world, then I'll try using it on the main world. It'll take soem time even if it works because each dimension will have to be done seperatley, so in some cases, if they're not filled, it might be worth getting rid of them than converting them. Edit: Is the server 1.1.1 or 1.1.2?

The server is 1.1.2 I believe. Also tom posted a pretty cool thing the forums about an event between 9/13 - 9/15 that I thought was cool . You should totally check it out

So. Quick test with a bunch of items:
Few things disappear, notably, some weird glowy jar thing. Trying to place one is not within the realm of good ideas. That being said, never seen one being used, ever, so it's not a big concern. Getting error messages about some thaumcraft stuff, so I'll have to look into that.
Buildcraft liquid pipes go invisible, working on seeing if I can get around that. No idea about liquids themself, gonna test that out now.
Edit: Update: liquid Pipes are pretty much screwed, not sure bout liquiducts and MJ conduits yet. They'll transfer in your inventory, but the items in the world will error and turn into null-blocks.
Not quite sure about the rest yet, but yeah. Edit 2: Tom, if you want to upload a copy of the server saves so I can try it out on them, that'd probably help testing.
Edit 3: Testing with chests, restone conduits and liquiducts worked fine. Stuff from factorization mod does not seem to convert over well though

Edit: Update: liquid Pipes are pretty much screwed, not sure bout liquiducts and MJ conduits yet. They'll transfer in your inventory, but the items in the world will error and turn into null-blocks. Now, I am not a modder, but i don't think that block always preservs their metadata when you change the id number. Thus for pipes maybe its looking for some kind of missing metadata which is why it gets the error. So if we shut down all the pipes before the reset. Not quite sure about the rest yet, but yeah. Edit 2: Tom, if you want to upload a copy of the server saves so I can try it out on them, that'd probably help testing. Edit 3: Testing with chests, restone conduits and liquiducts worked fine. Stuff from factorization mod does not seem to convert over well though On of those blocks by any chance the bioreactor or similar? I found that block in 1.1.2 causes client side crash errors and a I have left a note for tom to destory the bioreactor at my base at his leisure. If its were probably two reasons for this First possibility, some of the factorization machines are bugged in 1.1.2. For example, I found that in 1.1.2 bioreactor has natural aversion to forestry saplings and has problems with unified saplings. What do I mean by unified saplings? (bioreactor does not normally accept forestry saplings but you can unify them back. In the game their is a very specific oak vanilla sapling (id = 6:32767) with metadata attached to it (or at least the number 32767). I've found unifier uses this id block to allow users to convert all their forestry saplings into vanilla saplings or vis versa. This is actually a pretty powerful concept in itself it allows you to genetically modify saplings via replication. The problem is that bioreactor does not like forestry saplings. I was testing putting both 6:32767 saplings and forestry saplings in a bioreactor, I ran into problems and my client crashed. Second possibility, there is a metadata similar to the meta issue I described above. The bio-reactor stores a buffer and efficiency before it works. I believe these values are stored as metadata. Midas does not carry over metadata. So all factorization blocks would probably have to be shut down or buffers cleared in a update.

Not that I'm trying to rush anything but are you going to put the server back up Tom? Just wondering. I really appreciate you putting the server up and letting us play on it without asking for anything in return. Iv really enjoyed playing with everyone and getting to know all of you. Its been a lot of fun and I look forward to continuing the fun into the future!

Yea. So if I can find a stable modpack that will not change in a few months and make us ditch our creations I am wanting to put a new server up.
Or
We can put up a modpack/server for a finite amount of time after which we will put up another modpack/server.
For instance, the Yogs have been doing a Spacecraft mod server series that looks hella fun.
If we do that though folks will have to realize there is not a forever so much as a continued series of evers.
Thoughts?
