I'm in a war movie kinda mood this week so I dug up all these goodies to watch. Everything but one movie are all somewhat recent films released in the last 10 years.

Almost has a Schindlers List vibe to it as a westerner uncharacteristicly protects woman seeking refuge in a cathedral during the rape of nanking in WW2.

Korea after being colonised by the japanese is forced into WW2, the story is shown from the perspective of a young Korean who just wants to someday run in the Olympics.
White Tiger
This one isn't listed in IMDB as far as I can find... I think because it's outside of the "western sphere"? IMO it's a interesting take on Herman Melville' Moby Dick. This movie is about a Russian tank crew driving a prototype T-34/85 and hunting a white Tiger Tank that German POW's claim doesn't exist.

This movie tells the story of the Jewish rebellion in the Warsaw Ghetto against the Nazi oppressors in a fairly amazing method, probably one of my favorites in this list.
The Beast of War

As introduced to me by Dece and PoorRichard, this is probably the best Tankers movie ever. It's about the crew of a Russian tank during the soviet invasion of Afghanistan that gets lost and ends up being hunted by the locals who are on a mission of vengeance.

During WWII, four North African men enlist in the French army to liberate that country from Nazi oppression, and to fight French discrimination.
This last one is not a movie, Instead it's a mini series, somewhat of a foreign adaptation of Band of Brothers called "Generation War"

It's a story about two brothers who join the German Wehrmacht as a Officer and a liberal grunt, They go off to fight the eastern front. Generation War also tells the story about the friends and loved ones they left behind in Berlin as they struggle with the drama of the Nazi'. Generation War covers everything from the beginning of Germanys decloration of war on Russia to the fateful battle of berlin itself. I love this series a lot better then something like Band of Brothers because of the darker grim atmosphere of it all.
