Whats your reasoning that the R9 290 is better then the 770? The 770 is 2gigs and 70 dollars less, the R9 290 is 4gigs. and 400. Also im set on the nividia series. Im not going to radeon.

Just straight out better performance, Nvidia prices are higher than AMD right now. With 280X which is equivalent to GTX 770 being $70 cheaper for the same performance pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-100363l

But it's summertime here and Total is pretty far South. With the newish ati cards, you have to budget for the extra air conditioning. This fall, I will be considering getting one or two ati cards, but that will depend more on methane vs. electricity costs than anything technical about the cards.

You can pick up a single room non-windowed AC for about $400, and if you can have a window unit, it's even cheaper.
