As you may know (or are finding out now), Tom has recently stepped down from being a General to take a leave of absence from TXR.
A recent personal conflict with Caustic contributed to, but is not the sole factor in Tom's decision. I am filling you in on these details because firstly, Tom wanted them to be known, and secondly, I'd rather provide authoritative information than let people be informed by rumor and speculation. If you were not directly involved in this incident, here's what you need to know about it:
-Caustic has also voluntarily left TXR.
-Leadership has determined that both parties have a measure of fault, primarily because the situation escalated despite the fact that restraint and a conciliatory attitude by EITHER party could have easily avoided said escalation.
-To make sure nothing like this ever happens again or goes unchecked, we have come up with a system whereby members can report such incidents without fear of retaliation. In some cases, it was Tom's status as a general and Caustic's relation to Changes as a general that inhibited people's ability or desire to speak up and solve this.
In the wake of Tom's departure, I have assumed the temporary position of General in TXR. I am honored to be a part of leadership on this level, but the circumstances are obviously very bittersweet. There is no bad blood between Tom and the other generals. If/when he returns to TXR, I will happily step down, and Tom will resume his position as a leader of this outfit.
Until then, I will continue to do my utmost to keep this place running and make sure every one of you can have a great gaming experience, whatever game you play with us. We're more than just an army in the TR or builders in Minecraft or pilots in War Thunder or adventurers in Final Fantasy 14. We're a community. We have friends here. It is my responsibility, and the responsibility of everyone in leadership to keep that running, to maintain that community, and to solve any problems and face any challenges that might disrupt it.
I don't want to be overly serious or sappy about this whole thing, but TXR has been a part of my daily life for over a year now. It's important to me, and I'm sure it's very important to most of you as well. If you have any questions about any of this, or the new policy, or if there's any ideas you have for me to implement, I'm fresh blood in the generalship, and I'm here for y'all, however long I hold this rank.
