Hey skywatch, I just had a few questions to ask you guys who are more knowledgeable and experienced than I am as a pilot. I understand there is a lot of info out there about piloting in this game and I have tried my best to ask things that don't tend to be covered in other places. Well here it goes....
1. Avoiding AA fire - this is one of my biggest problems. I have flares and don't seem to have much trouble with lockons. However, a single burster max, AA cannon or skyguard tends to rip me apart before I even have a chance to react. Are there certain areas which a pilot should specifically avoid? (ex. Towers, Zergs, etc) Part of my problem here seems to revolve around render distance. When I'm coming in for a strafing run it seems like I am down before I even render the infantry. Any tips to help with these problems would be appreciated.
2. Reaver on my ass, what to do? - Another area where I am clueless. If I get someone behind me I am completely clueless on what to do. I seem to be past the point where I panic and crash however I have no idea how to turn the tide and even fight back in this situation. I read about banking turns and the reverse maneuvering but I am having a ton of trouble pulling off the backwards hovering (my afterburning tends to trasfer to forward momentum rather than upwards).
3. Altitude - I feel like pehaps I am flying too low when attempting to attack ground targets. What times should I be keeping towards the flight ceiling and what times are appropriate to hug the ground?
Sorry if these are complete idiot questions. I am pretty much a terrible pilot at this point. I think I've won 2 dog fights through blind luck and shot down a lib and galaxy at this stage, and that's a big step from crashing my mossie constantly when I first started. However, those few times where I was actually in the fight and not getting gibbed were some of the most intense and exciting experiences I have had in planetside. Just looking for any advice you vets could throw to a noob pilot who may someday be more than complete cannon fodder.
Thanks again.
